Ruth Mendelzon & Family

The Mendelzon and Varzan families were among the first immigrants from Jerusalem who settled in Paraguay in the 1910s. The Mendelzon patriarch, Salvador, was a Sofer and one of the founders of the Sephardic synagogue and Jewish cemetery. The maternal sides of both families came from Russia and Poland. Throughout the years, the Mendelzons have been been pillars of the Paraguayan Jewish community, as well as great supporters of the Chabad efforts in the country. And ever since the inception of the Jewish Latin Center in 2008, they have embraced the Center's mission of providing a much needed spiritual and religious home to thousands of Latin American Jews living in New York. Their vision, guidance and support have been essential in shaping the Jewish Latin Center into what it is today.

Sony and Tatiana Douer are originally from São Paulo, Brazil. They moved to New York 13 years ago, where Sony runs his family office, managing assorted investments, including new technology projects around the world.read more

They have 3 lovely kids, raising them with a strong Jewish identity. They are also affiliated with many international causes, including many in Israel.

Sony and Tatiana have been steadfast supporters of the Jewish Latin Center since its inception, a reflection of their strong belief in investing and nurturing the future generation of Jewish leaders.

Ruben Kliksberg

Ruben Kliksberg is a Partner and Deputy Portfolio Manager of Redwood Capital Management, a $6 billion alternative investment fund that focuses on distressed and special situations around the world.read more

Before joining Redwood, he was an adviser on M&A and corporate finance transactions at the Investment Banking Technology Group of Credit Suisse First Boston. Prior to that, he worked for the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank, managing private direct debt and equity investments in emerging markets.

Ruben graduated from Georgetown University, has an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School and a Masters in Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government of Harvard University. Born and raised in Venezuela, Ruben and his wife currently live in Manhattan, raising their 4 kids in a strong and healthy Jewish environment.
